Another handy shortcut is the last element of the previous command, eg:

ls /path/long/dir/burried/deep/in/the/file/system

Ok, nothing you want to keep there:

rm -rf !!:$

Voila!

@Carter: The indexing service only needs to be turned off for a short time while any really large SVN commits are in progress. Once my initial commit was completed I turned the service back on. Since the post was originally published, MS has issued a hotfix for this issue, which is slated to be included in Windows 7 SP1.

I’d like to use it for multiple images. I have 4 images in a row on the homepage. I’d like to have each image to draw on their own random group of images.

So their response is that they know it’s a problem, and that you just shouldn’t use the indexing service? I guess that’s not surprising. Pretty typical of Microsoft, actually. Oh well. Good to know your files aren’t corrupted.

AutoComplete saves me sooo much typing. Thanks for the tip. I don’t think I ever enabled it in the first place so I would probably have to search for 20 minutes as well if I ever had to re-enable it.

I used SureType on my Storm 2 and found that it is very useful in certain situations. As long as I used common words, it did fine at “predicting” my input. It’s not very useful for logging into accounts though as it can’t predict usernames and passwords (the Storm would always default to multi-tap during logins). It was also hard to use text message shorthand while using SureType but I guess the whole point is to help to use complete words??

The Flip didn’t do as well as expected for RIM. Any thoughts on the latest flip phone by BlackBerry, the Style 9670? It is a surprisingly functional BlackBerry even by Bold user standards (so I’ve heard). I would consider it if it were carried by Verizon. By the way, I’m a Bold 9650 user.

I’ve been using your random image generator, but every time I try to upgrade, it stops working. Here’s what happnes:

See the "<" before the "img" Not sure how that gets in there. Seems like it's part of the php and therefore shouldn't get printed to the html, but I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Here the output from the php lines:

This isn’t without it’s risks since the DD command will duplicate byte for byte all data from one location to another, but once you’ve found the necessary information you can easily replicate data. That was a good idea. Thank you.

Looks interesting. I like the ‘Tiles’ idea. It doesn’t follow the iPhone or Android tradition. The previous Windows Mobile OS were disappointing. My friend who bought one in a Samsung hardware regret he ever bought one. It was lagging and the UI is a mess. No apps support unlike App Store by Apple. The Windows 7 Mobile version I hope, fixes all this.

Software like that will be the death of Twitter as it would with any social network. Too much spam and fake-user content will draw people away from the site. That is one of the sole reasons that Myspace fell behind Facebook. Thousands of people, including myself, got sick of all the spam on Myspace and made the decision to switch to Facebook. So, if Twitter doesn’t fix this then it’ll become just like Myspace.
