Galactic Collisions: Mice Galaxies

March 1st, 2008 · No Comments

It’s remarkable to think that to entities as large as galaxies could actually collide, but it does happen.  It has happened in the past, as far as we can tell.

February 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

There were some great views of the Lunar Eclipse this past week.  I had the opportunity to take a break from a class I’m taking and watch the eclipse reach totality.  The event lasted quite a bit longer than I had anticipated (admittedly, I’ve never spent the time to watch a full eclipse event before.

Flickr Fight Follow-up: The proof

January 26th, 2008 · No Comments

After the post I did a couple of days back about FlickrFight using images and not attributing them to the photographers who took and own the images, I thought it might  help to actually point to some of the things that FlickrFight is doing.
First off, they’re not copying the images, they are getting them from [...]

One of the most popular photo editing programs for Windows has to be Google’s Picasa.  Though it’s not the most full-featured image editing on the market it’s free and [...]

Last week on the GGP, we reviewed an service called SlideFlickr. On that episode (#64) I promised a demo of SlideFlickr using my recent vacation photos. Well, here it is.

In for a penny…

June 25th, 2007 · 2 Comments

…in for another $24.95 US.
I decided to upgrade my Flickr account because I’ve taken some more pictures I want to upload, but was having to wait until July to post them… not to mention that I couldn’t upload full size photos because it would have only been about 18/month.
So there.  I’ve done it.  Paid for [...]

Flickr vs. Photoblog

June 15th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Over the last couple of weeks as I’ve been ramping up to do the whole “fancy new camera” thing, I began to realize that my free Flickr account probably isn’t going to cut it as far as volume of images, and flexibility for things like set creation etc.
At first I just assumed that I’d convert [...]

Go with your friend…

June 3rd, 2007 · 1 Comment

I’ve been considering making the jump from digital point-and-shoot cameras to DSLR for a while now. Recently I’ve been looking more seriously into getting an “entry-level” DSLR camera.
At the moment, two of the major competitors in the 10MP DSLR space are the Canon Digital Rebel XTi and Nikon’s D40x. Each of these cameras [...]
